Title: Field Building Intern

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Duration: Nine Months

Supervisor: Training Manager   

Stipend: KES 30,000 per month

Position overview
The primary responsibility of the field building intern is to support RefugePoint’s engagement with Community-Based organizations and partners in Nairobi, Kenya by supporting RefugePoint’s efforts to strengthen the capacity and resources of refugee serving community-based organizations


Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting a mapping exercise for CBOs & other partners working with refugee-serving CBOs.
  • Carrying out needs assessments for CBOs & Refugee Led Organisations.
  • Conducting vetting exercises for new CBOs through field visits and close collaboration with the Refugepoint’s community outreach team.
  • Supporting the mobilization, planning, and implementation of capacity strengthening workshops for Cohorts of CBOs in response to needs raised in the capacity need assessments.
  • Occasionally attend meetings/forums as requested by the CBO leads/Partners or by RefugePoint.
  • Work closely (Including attending partner meetings) with the other partners working in line with refugee leadership.
  • Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation team and the Training Manager to capture information needed for reporting on peer-to-peer sessions and the CBO granting process.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a Bachelor of Education, Community Development or other related studies relevant
  • Knowledge of capacity building, training and development
  • Strong facilitation, communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in the use of computer and office software packages (Ms Word, Ms Excel etc.)
  • Knowledge of the refugee/asylum seeker situation in an urban environment will be an added advantage.
  • Strong interest in community empowerment and development.

Special Requirements:

  • A police clearance certificate.
