Agency Overview:
RefugePoint was founded in 2005 to provide lasting solutions for the world’s most vulnerable refugees. We work to fill the critical and unmet needs of people affected by war and conflict who have fallen through the net of humanitarian assistance, in particular women, children and urban refugees.

Position Overview:
RefugePoint values an expanded, less traditional approach to fundraising; one that recognizes the importance of collaboration and partnership building. We strive to create an environment that encourages creativity and the full incorporation of staff talents. RefugePoint benefits from a significant base of support, with deep potential for additional support. In addition to the basics, we are looking for an individual who will add to the base of organizational thought leadership – building momentum for a new model of fundraising – one that is collaborative, oriented towards sharing information with others, and not strictly finance-oriented.

The Director of Development (DoD) reports to the Managing Director and works closely with the Executive Director and development staff to develop strategies for reaching fundraising goals. The DoD is charged with creating a fund development plan, managing all aspects of plan implementation, monitoring progress, supervising fundraising unit staff and interfacing with staff of other units to ensure coordination of all fundraising efforts. In achieving established goals, the DoD will ensure a balanced revenue mix (individual/institutional; restricted/unrestricted; maintenance/growth) through the execution of annual year-end appeals and other campaigns, events, challenge grants, sponsorships, major gifts, multi-year commitments, corporate social responsibility and planned giving.

The DoD must have experience working effectively with non-profit Boards of Directors and Development Committees and must be comfortable working with high net-worth individuals and celebrities. S/he will contribute to the development of agency-wide plans. A background working with refugee issues, humanitarian or human rights work is helpful but not required.
